Upcycling project Make a cute panda hoodie
For a hoodie that’s bursting with personality, try this cheeky panda upcycling project. You’ll learn a new sewing technique and they’ll get a fun new jumper to wear out and about.
Project by Stephanie Stanesby, The Crafty Kitty
A quick and easy way to customise and add character to a hoodie sewing pattern (or upcycle a hoodie), is to use reverse appliqué. This technique involves cutting out a design from a top layer of fabric to reveal a layer(s) of fabric underneath
• scraps of black mid-weight jersey (interlock or ponte roma)
• 1/2m cream or white fleece
• scraps of wadding (optional)
We used the Rowan Tee by Titchy Threads (www.titchythreads.com) so we stopped and added the appliqué as we went along but you can easily upcycle an existing hoodie or use Stephanie’s free hoodie pattern which you can find in our hoodie patterns for kids round up.
