Back to School Sewing Projects

The kids are back to school in just a week or so, we love that ‘new pencil case’ and shiny shoes feeling here at Love Sewing! Why not sew them up some accessories to make their first day extra special!  We’ve found 5 fun projects – a pencil case, messenger bag, PE Kit Bag, Sandwhich and Snack Bags and a very handy (or hands free) Water Bottle Holder.

Water Bottle Carrier Tutorial

water bottle carrier

Kids all need to carry a water bottle to school these days and these handy water bottle carriers can keep bottles out of bags – avoiding the chance of all their work getting wet in their school bag if the lid isn’t tightened properly!  They are also great as they’re easy to carry on the walk or cycle to school.

These water bottles were made by Creative Kismet  but the tutorial can be found over on the  Pink Chalk Studio blog.

Kids Messenger Bag Tutorial

This messenger bag tutorial is from he Crazy Little Projects blog, a messenger bag is perfect for a kids school bag as they can fit in a4 folders for any loose sheets and letters they get, plus all their reading books.  Far more unique than a school issue book bag! It may be good to use canvas for added strength.

PE Kit Bag Tutorial

Top UK Blogger and Pattern designer Amanda from Kitschy Coo has made this great PE Kit bag tutorial – often useful to ensure your kit bag looks unique to avoid them mixing up their PE Kits!  When they’re in reception they may not be able to quickly read labels, but they will recognise their unique kit bag!

Reusable Sandwich/Snack Bag Tutorial!

Reusable Snack Bags 0 a

It’s such a waste to wrap sandwiches and snacks up in tin foil or cling film every day – these little snack bags are really useful for kids and can be popped into a lunch box – sometimes clunky tupperware wont fit in a kids lunch box so these are a great alternative – snack bag tutorial
