Plus we have added this bonus free skirt sewing pattern designed by Lisa Comfort of Sew Over It – we love the full skirt which gives it a vintage look.
Free A Line Skirt Tutorial from One Avian Daemon – loving the fabric on this one and the fact it is hemless! Naomi says – “it’s hard to make the curved edge of a skirt lie flat… and even when you get it right it gives the fabric a stiff edge that doesn’t move as well as a wider hem. The solution? A contrast band sewn around the edge. It can be sewn on a machine, there’s nothing to keep flat, it doesn’t stiffen the bottom edge, and the contrasting color is a nice detail.”
A simple drawstring skirt like this, cut on the bias is a great project for a novice dressmaker – find the free pattern here – Free Drawstring Skirt Pattern
This lovely freebie is called the “30 Minute Skirt Pattern” and the designer Toni Coward, says that it is a great pattern for learning to sew with jersey knits. “If you’re not too confident sewing with knits, let this be the pattern you start on! With just two pieces to cut, two seams to join and a length of elastic to sew around the top – there’s nothing daunting about this project”
This is the ‘socialite’ free skirt pattern from Leanne Barlow of Elle Apparel – Leanne says “I decided to make the waistband on this skirt stretchy. It is just nice to be able to pull it on with a shirt and go. It’s a lot more casual, which is nice for lounging around, soaking up the last few days of the summer sun.”
This is another of Leanne’s brilliant sewing tutorials – The Pinwheel Skirt a free sewing tutorial, it’s gorgeous and as usual Leanne takes you step by step through measuring yourself and cutting out to sewing up this beautiful and unusual skirt.
