Halloween Sewing Projects and Ideas

Spooky! Halloween Sewing Patterns!

Halloween is a great excuse to get your sewing machine out and have fun making up some spooky costumes, decorations and props.

For beginners, the beauty of sewing up Halloween costumes is that it doesn’t matter if they’re not absolutely perfect so it can be a great way to practise your sewing skills without the pressure.  No one will notice a wonky seam in the dark!  You can try a simple dress pattern in inexpensive black fabric, add a witches hat and a little green make-up and voila!

Here are a few fun Halloween projects we thought you’d enjoy.

In this month’s Love Sewing magazine we have two fun Halloween sewing projects. You can find the Trick or Treat bag pattern from Great British Sewing Bee Contestant Matt Chapple on page 78 of Issue 19 of Love Sewing Magazine  and this brilliant Skeleton-T idea with matching bone hairclip is on page 44.

Halloween Pumpkin Basket  This pattern is wasted on kids! If made from a pretty silk, it could look very sophisticated teamed with a black evening dress for a very grown up and subtle Halloween look (maybe minus the plastic spiders! You could find some sparkly diamante spiders!)
